How to Make Christmas Birch Branch Reindeer
Christmas celebrations are unique in the terms of thematic decorations that give a festive face lift to any commercial or living space. This involves placing and redecorating several of the season's special elements, apart from the Christmas tree. One such interesting addition is a handmade reindeer that can be placed at any strategic spot. Birch tree is the best option for such craft due to their cultural significance, availability, and easy designing. You will need to cut some small logs using saw and fixing some framework. Therefore, this craft is more suitable for the adults in the family, though children may be involved later at the decoration stage. Here are some easy tips to erect your own birch branch reindeer for the coming holidays.

Throughout the world, Christmas is one of the most well known holidays. In Spain, as well as in many other countries, this holiday focuses on the celebration of Christ's birth. It is a time for families to gather together to celebrate and share the joy of the season with song, dancing and family meals. Although these traditions are common in many countries, there are some aspects of the Christmas holiday which are unique to Spain.

Christmas Shop: Candle Clips, German Christmas Tree Candles and Clip-On Candle Holders On A Comeback
Christmas tree candles are on a comeback course. The classic candles and simple metal candle holders your great-grandparents used to adorn their tree every year slipped off the market about 90 years ago when electric lights swept the country. But if the initial buzz early this holiday season is any indication, the classic Christmas tree candle is on its way back.

Using real candles for holiday decorating has cross-cutting appeal. The Christmas tree candle, lowly and simple as it is, transcends aesthetic, political and historical fault lines.

Geeks and style scouts like Christmas candles and the metal candle holders that go with them for their gadget appeal and because at first glance they feel like something new and different. Homebodies and designers like them from a decorating point of view because they fit in with Victorian, Country, Lodge or any one of several other Christmas design themes. The historically-minded like the idea of reviving this traditional practice and keeping it alive. Families who want to shed some of the glitz and glam of the holidays like them because they're simple, low-tech and beautiful. And environmentally-conscious Christmas connoisseurs are drawn to Christmas tree candles because they're 100% green - even more earth friendly than LED Christmas lights.
Christmas Shop: Candle Clips, German Christmas Tree Candles and Clip-On Candle Holders On A Comeback
Regardless what may be drawing you to the idea of decorating your tree with candle clips and candles this year, if you've decided to do it, buy them early in the season.
Since these products are teetering on the verge of extinction, it comes as no surprise that they're difficult to find locally. You can make the rounds and ask, but they vanished from gift shops and hardware stores decades ago, though you could get lucky. You won't find them at your local mall. Even specialty shops that feature candles, Christmas decorations, wreaths, lights and other holiday items rarely, if ever, stock them.
The best place to buy Christmas tree candle holders, pendulum holders and candles is from a reputable, experienced shop on the internet. Make sure the products you are looking at are imported from Germany. Germans have been making decorations like these for years and theirs are the best. Why go with a cheaper import when you can get the real thing? You will want to consider what kind of holders you like best. Here are some of the basic choices:
Clip-On Christmas Tree Candle Holder or Candle Clip This holder has a spring clamp that grips the tree limb and steadies the holder. It includes a wax catcher and adjustable base. Clip on holders are usually available in a pine cone or scallop design. You can usually find them in a silver or gold finish. Pendulum Christmas Tree Candle Holder with Pine Cone Weight This traditional hanging candle holder was used before the candle clips. It has a stem that loops over the limb and a pine cone counterweight to keep the candle vertical. Pendulum Christmas Tree Candle Holder with Kugel This is a hanging holder with a stem and counterweight shaped as a "Kugel" or ball. Pendulum Christmas Tree Candle Holder with Star A hanging candle holder with a stem and dangling counterweight in the shape of a star. Christmas Tree Candles These are specialty candles from Germany made expressly to fit candle holders. They are usually available in red and white. Make sure to purchase the correct candles. Don't cut corners or try to substitute another size. The candle must fit firmly and snugly in the base. Birthday and party candles are too small. Dining candles are too long and fat. Votives and religious candles are also too big. If you're sure to buy original German-made Christmas tree candles, you can't go wrong.
Go ahead -- channel your great-grandparents this year, and experience Christmas the way they did. Regardless whether you choose clip-on Christmas candles or one of the pendulum candle holders, your Christmas tree will never look better and you will remember it all year long.. -

Leading up to the Christmas holiday, the Spanish celebrate a tradition called "Hogueras" (bonfires). This is a celebration of the winter solstice which is the shortest day of the year. At this time, people jump over a bonfire, symbolizing a protection against illness. Also during the winter solstice, swing sets are constructed to be used by the people in the belief that by swinging high they will cause the sun to move higher in the sky.

Popular Christmas Traditions and Christmas Decorations in Spain
On Christmas Eve, tiny lamps are lit in the windows throughout the villages, representing the stars in the Christmas Eve sky. At midnight, bells are rung in each of the villages, calling everyone to "La Misa Del Gallo", the Mass of the Rooster. It is called this because the rooster was known as the first of the animals to announce Christ's birth.
Popular Christmas Traditions and Christmas Decorations in Spain
After the midnight Mass, Christmas dinner is served. The traditional holiday meal includes "Pavo Trufado de Navidad", which is Christmas turkey with truffles. Roast lamb, suckling pig, duck, and seafood such as lobster, shrimp, trout and salmon may also be served, depending on which part of the country one is in. Traditional desserts may include marzipan, made of honey, almonds and eggs, and polvorones, which is a sweetbread. Nuts, dried fruits, and caramel custard are among other desserts served. No meal is complete without a drink. Cava is the Spanish champagne, and it often accompanies the Christmas meal.
In many countries a visit by Santa Claus is an important part of a Christmas celebration. However, in Spain, this is not the case. The children do receive small gifts from "Papa Noel" on Christmas, but this is not a big part of the festivities. Instead, they celebrate January 6, which is the Three King's Day, a day commemorating the Three Wise Men who brought gifts to the Baby Jesus. On January 5, the children take part in a parade to see the Three Kings when they come to their village or town. When given the chance, they ask the Three Kings for the presents they are hoping for. On the eve of this special day, the children leave their shoes out where they are easily found. They are filled with straw and carrots for the camels on which the Wise Men travel. On the next morning, the straw and carrots are gone, replaced by presents. On this day, a special dessert is served, the "Roscon de los Reyes" which is a large circular cake. It is decorated with candied fruits, which represent the jewels which were on the Three Kings' robes. There is a surprise baked into the cake, and whoever finds it becomes the king or queen of the house.
Spain's celebration of Christmas is similar to the manner in which other countries celebrate it with Christmas trees and Christmas wreaths.. But by also having its own unique traditions, a visitor can gain insight into the people of Spain and their lives. Knowing the traditions of various countries such as Spain can give one a new appreciation of the Christmas holiday around the world.

Anyone can hang a holiday wreath on their front door. How about trying something a little bit different though? Maybe you're asking, "How do I hang an outdoor wreath on windows?" It's very simple to do and will add a little bit of pizazz to your holiday decorations. There are a couple options.
Holiday Wreath
How Do I Hang an Outdoor Wreath on Windows
The first thing you could do is go to your local home improvement store and buy some large suction cup type hanger hooks. They are normally located in the hardware section. Any store associate can point them out to you. Once you have your package of hangers all you have to do is:
How Do I Hang an Outdoor Wreath on Windows
- Open the package
- Remove a hanger
- Moisten the suction cup
- Stick it on the window where ever you want the wreath to hang.
- Hang the wreath from the hook
- Adjust the wreath for proper center and level
One word of caution though, if you have any sort of exterior film on your window be sure that the wreath won't scratch it. You don't want to take the wreath down after the holidays and find a big ugly scratch running down the window!
Another option would be just to use a hammer and nail. Before you break out the tools and start pounding away look for a good spot. You don't want to be swinging a hammer next to a pane of glass. One wrong move and you have a really expensive wreath! Instead how about hanging it from the window casing instead?
Hanging it from the window casing is a much safer alternative and still looks beautiful. In fact why not put down the hammer and simply get an eye hook with a screw type shank. Those are the hooks that look like a question mark. You won't have to worry about a slipped hammer then!
Simply center the eyehook in the window casing. Screw it in Hang the wreath from it. Adjust the wreath to proper level and center.
One other small concern when hanging a wreath on a window: be sure that the wreath isn't hanging somewhere that it will obstruct a hasty exit in the event of a fire. Your family's safety is so much more important than any holiday decoration. If you have a picture window hanging the wreath from it would be a better option than one that offers a path outside the home.

How to Make Christmas Birch Branch Reindeer
Steps to make Christmas birch branch reindeer:

• Dissecting the branches: Cut the branches into two logs, one-half the size of the other.
• Smoothing: Use garden trimmer or knife to remove excess side branches, leaves, etc. and smooth the logs.
• Making hole: Drill a hole in both the logs, a few inches from one end. These holes should be proportionate to the diameter of the dowel.
• Forming body: Fix a dowel in both the holes in such a way that the larger forms the abdomen and the smaller, the head portion.
• Legs: Drill four holes for the legs and insert dowels. You may also use branches of the trees in place of the dowels.
• Antlers: Make holes for the antlers on the head and place twigs.
• Nose: Fix the red bead as nose.
• Eyes: Paint the entire structure, including eyes, in the natural shade of reindeer.
• Decoration: The main decoration is done to cover the dowel in the neck area and part of the legs. It is created in the form of a loosely shaped wreath.
• Branches: Take evergreen branches of appropriate size and form. Tie the ends.
• Ribbons: Tie ribbons in places around the closed loop.
• Accessorizing neck: Interlace other decorations, like golden painted pine-cones, berries, ornaments etc. Hand the entire adornment around the neck of the reindeer.
• Body cover: Cut a rectangular piece of red velvet cloth and lace it from all sides. Place the cloth on the back of the reindeer to give it the true holiday look!

I love decorating for Christmas so much, it looks like Christmas blew up in my house... but in a good way! :-)

17 Fun Christmas Decorating Ideas to Add Sparkle to Your Home
So... I've listed 17 ideas for decorating home your home for the holidays. I hope that you find at least one new idea for you... and maybe a few will inspire you with a whole list of original ideas!
17 Fun Christmas Decorating Ideas to Add Sparkle to Your Home
1. Brighten your christmas tree
It's easy to string lights on your Christmas tree... but take tree lights very seriously at my house. My husband wraps each individual branch and twig with lights. Yes, it's a bit tedious... but the result is breathtaking. Hey, you're going to be looking at that tree all month... take the extra time and really make your tree glow... literally.
2. Decorate your stair rail
This is a given, but it amazes me how few actually do it. Whenever you see beautifully decorated homes in magazines you see this grand staircase wrapped in garland and lights. It's stunning. And you can have the same exact effect in your home. It's easy! Wrap your banisters with garland. You can go cheap and use the standard green garland in a box... or you can go all out and get some more realistic garland. Whatever your budget can handle... do what's best for you. Now, wrap the garland in white lights. It doesn't matter what kind of garland you use... because once those lights are on... wow! But don't stop there! Tie a pretty christmas ribbon bow at the bottom and top of the hand rails. And if you have enough ribbon, wind the ribbon loosely around the rail. Don't wrap the ribbon exactly like you wrapped the garland... offset it a bit. Now, you're really decorating!
And if you're inspired... grab some shiny christmas ball ornaments and hang those on your garland all the way up the stairs. I bet you didn't know your house could look so luxurious!
3. Add christmas bows
I add bows made of all kinds of christmas ribbon all over my house. On the stair rail, on my wreaths... on the ends of my draped garland. On door knobs. I attach them to my outdoor house lights. I add a big swag christmas bow just below my angel on my christmas tree. And for my second tree (yes, my second tree) I have a big 2-ribbon tree topper bow.
4. Hang wreaths in windows
It's common to hang wreaths on your front door. But I love hanging wreaths on my windows. I'm not talking about just on the outside of your house. I also mean on the inside. I don't hang wreaths in all my windows... my I select a room that needs a little extra Christmas spirit and hang one in each window. I also hang a wreath above the fire place. And another on my book shelves. And guess what... I add bows to all of them.
5. Greet visitors with some fun
All the formal decorating stuff is nice... but don't forget to add some personality and fun to your rooms. Especially in your foyer. Find something that makes you smile and put it where people will see it as soon as they come into your house. I found this Christmas center piece that is made of holly leaves, berries and 3 stacked gingermen. It is adorable! It makes me smile and I put it on a table in my foyer. Now, I enjoy it when I come home... and others can enjoy it when the visit. It's silly and I love it!
6. Create memories with small decorations
Growing up, I always remembered my Mother's little Christmas knick-knacks. Like snow globes and funny little snow men. I really didn't follow in tradition when I first had kids. But my Mother gifted me little silly items every year. And as the years have gone on, my children ask about some of these items when we decorate the house. I have a little igloo with snowmen that has a little light that acts like a fire. My daughter remembered this from last year and was so excited when she saw it out. It's the little things... literally... that can be the most special.
7. Decorate your fireplace mantel
My fireplace mantel varies from year to year. I've draped garland and lights and hungs stockings. I've displayed a variety of different sized candles dressed in pine cones and garland. I've displayed framed photos of the family. Whatever you decide... just have fun with it. Experiment. Try varying heights of a few different items. Try simple... try cluttered. Find your style.
8. Add garland
Like wreaths, add garland everywhere! I wrap garland on the banisters... I frame the door ways. I drape garland with fruit over my french doors. I lay garland along the top back of my couches. I even wrap my columns in garland.
10. Add a little character to your front yard
I used to do the "nice" decorating in my front yard. White lights on the shrubs. Garland and white lights around my door. And it IS nice. But now, I try to add a little fun. Not too much... I still don't want my yard looking like I'm having a yard sale! This year I lined my front walk in light up candy canes. So cute! I still have my white lights on everything else... but its the candy canes that make me smile. And my kids love them!
11. Place wrapped gifts
Wrap boxes in shiny paper... tie a ribbon on them... and place them around your house. What fun! I place wrapped gift boxes on my book shelves, a few in a blank corner... some under the tree... anywhere that you need to add a little Christmas cheer. What an easy way to decorate!
12. Candles
Ah, the soft flicker of candle light can really add to the mood of a cozy home. I love the look of candles in windows. Obviously, don't use real candles for this. I also like to light a few candles around my home. The smell of cinnamon and holly is delicious.
13. Fill glass vases with cranberries and sparkle
Pull out those glass vases that just sit in your cupboard. Fill them with fake cranberries, clear glass stones, salt, pine cones, and/or christmas balls. Layer and be creative. And then leave these filled vases out. This a professional decorator trick. It's quick and it looks amazing!
14. Bowl of ornaments
Take a large bowl and fill it with some of your extra christmas balls. Or, collect some unique ones that you personally love... and place those in your bowl. Place this bowl in the center of your coffee table or dining table.
15. Photos of Christmas memories
Pull out some of those precious memories of Christmases past and put them in some decorative frames. Shiny silver frames... red painted frames. Whatever you like. And place these around your house. You'll find that you'll start remembering stories and sharing these moments with your friends and family.
16. Christmas hand towels and bathroom mats
Don't forget the bathrooms! Add a cute hand towel and a christmasy floor mat. I have a chimney tissue box that I place on the back of the hall bathroom toilet. Just add a little somethin'.
17. Set your dining table
You may not be expecting dinner guests, but it's always nice to have a decorated and set table. Pull out your favorite holiday dishes. I have these fun white dishes that have reindeer, christmas trees and santas painted on them. I love them! Dress up your table with colorful place mats.... place random christmas balls over the table... place a dramatic center piece... and light some votive candles.
As I write this article, I can already think of a few more christmas decorating ideas. But I have to end this list at some point. Decorating your home for the holidays can create a lot of wonderful memories that you'll relive each year you pull out those bins. So, get to it! And happy holidays!
Oh... and don't forget to hang jingle bells on the doors... and mistletoe above the doorways... ok, ok, I'll stop!

Many of us strive to make our homes Christmas-perfect, by creating that welcoming "Merry Christmas" feeling any time you, your family or your guests step in. Your surroundings are an expression of yourself and you can easily help make that happen with the use of Christmas wreaths, garlands, swags and Holiday flowers.

Bringing Christmas Into Any Room With Greenery Wreaths, Garlands and Swags
Christmas should touch every room in your home and since every room has a focal point, you can play that up with Christmas greenery and/or florals. Fresh greens are fantastic, but taking into consideration today's economy, artificial greenery might be an option that is both versatile and cost effective. Choosing artificial greenery of good quality is very important. Look for something that looks real...like "real touch" or "natural touch" greens and flowers and be prepared to fool many a guest! Use your Christmas greenery to bring attention to the entrances to each doorway. Hang garland around every doorway and archway so that when your guests walk around they feel like they are filled with Christmas cheer. Use swags to adorn a door or showcase a picture or a mirror. Each room can have its own theme and you can work with what's in your home already. Choose a theme to suit each room, something to compliment the colors of what's already there. If you have a room that's decorated in beautiful shades of yellows and golds you may not want to throw a red poinsettia into the mix. A poinsettia in warm gold or copper tones will be just as festive and will not compete with your decor colors. Adding Christmas plants or flowers should allow the colors of the room to continue to flow.
Bringing Christmas Into Any Room With Greenery Wreaths, Garlands and Swags
Dried-look flowers are great options to consider for use during the holidays. Dried-look flowers have remained popular over time and pairing them with silk flowers continue to be a timeless classic. Faux flowers are a great way to decorate and will last long past the Christmas season. Arrangements of Christmas flowers will help you bring the Holiday spirit into any room in your home. You can make small arrangements combining Christmas greenery sprigs, silk and dried-look flowers in several small vases to use on a dining table as centerpieces for a festive dinner setting. And if your decor theme is neutral, you may want to showcase Holiday flowers in festive red and green colors in large vases to be placed on different tables throughout your home.
The Christmas season is short and it should be enjoyed from beginning to end. Holiday greenery and flowers are a addition to make that happen. Create a theme and enjoy!

Hawaiian Christmas memories are among my favorite remembrances of living in Hawaii. Listening to the children belt out their favorites like "Here Comes Santa in a Red Canoe," and the Hawaiian version of "The 12 Days of Christmas," and hearing "Silent Night" sung in English and Hawaiian by an angelic choir on a balmy evening under the stars with palm trees swaying are experiences not to be missed.Just walking downtown is a delight during the holidays.

Hawaii Christmas - Oahu Events, Holiday Airfares
And I'll never forget arriving at the Honolulu Airport for the first time during the holiday season and being in awe of the towering tree all decked out with huge, lauhala woven pineapples and golden lights.
Hawaii Christmas - Oahu Events, Holiday Airfares
Holidays in Hawaii, especially Christmas are widely celebrated. This is a very churched community, but even many of the Buddhist families participate in Christmas traditions, especially the Japanese-Americans who come who have a reputation for loving to give gifts.
If you're visiting the islands for the holidays, you will find a myriad of Christmas events on Oahu, actually on all the islands, but more so on Oahu.
In Hawaii, Santa gives his reindeer a Christmas break and arrives in a canoe, barefoot, tanned and with his red furry pants rolled up. On Oahu, his first stop is, as it is for most of Hawaii's visitors, Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. Keiki (children) visit their Hawaiian Santa at various cities on Oahu throughout the season.
While at Christmas time, many of the islanders enjoy watching the visitors in awe of this warm, friendly climate in the dead of winter, they also enjoy imagining what a white Christmas would be like. You'll hear many of the traditional mainland songs, like "Winter Wonderland" and "Jingle Bells."
Some Hawaiians though do have a white Christmas, that is if they're on the Big Island (island of Hawaii) and drive up above the tree line to the 10,000 foot high snowcapped peaks of Mauna Kea, transforming their boogie boards into sleds and building snowmen! With the current, cheap airfares from between Oahu and Neighbor Islands,a side trip from Oahu to the Big Island is more affordable than its been in a long time.
It's fun swapping tropical and white Christmas stories with locals. For us visitors it's especially fun to write home about how we spent our Christmas day on a beach! Some newcomers to Hawaii will even bring miniature trees down to the beach, although Hawaii has plenty Christmas trees. On Oahu,as on the other islands, trees from the mainland are sold. And, Hawaii has its own Christmas tree: the island Norfolk Pine. The tree doesn't have the spicy pine scent, but its largely spaced branches are wonderfully easy to decorate.
Hawaiian Christmas tree decorations are found everywhere. Craft fairs are great for finding local style ones: coconut frond woven ornaments, kukui nut and tapa cloth angels, Santas on surfboards in canoes and riding dolphins; along with beautiful wreaths made of island flowers and greenery.
Many of these craft fairs are events in themselves, complete with Hawaiian Christmas entertainment and food. You'll find many of these listed along with other holiday Oahu events in newspapers and free magazines at the airport.
Some of my favorite Oahu events at Christmas are the light displays in Honolulu and the music - choirs, orchestras and local style bands are found everywhere with free concerts at malls and on the beach. Adding to the holiday fun, many of Hawaii's most popular musicians like the Brothers Cazimero and Don Ho perform regularly in Waikiki.
The Honolulu City Lights (the city was given permission by Keola and Kapono Beamer to use the name of their all time hit song) is a spectacular display throughout Honolulu, including Waikiki, making Oahu a good pick for a Hawaiian holiday vacation.
The month-long, traditional festivities begin with the Kawaiahao Church Service in Honolulu (This was the first Christian church built in Hawaii and is extraordinary), the lighting of the City's 63-foot Norfolk Pine at Honolulu Hale (City Hall) and an electric parade and concert on December 3; however festivities continue throughout the holiday season.
For example, the Honolulu City Lights Trolley Tours run from December 8 to 30. The .50 fare (under age 4 free) benefits the Hawaii Food bank. For details, visit Honolulu Culture and Arts. If you go, be sure to check out the other Oahu event calendars mentioned above as well as this one's. And check out the holiday airfares at places like Hawaiian Airlines and Hotwire.com.
